Omniscient Reader is an upcoming Korean film based on a hit web novel of the same name. It tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Kim Dok Ja who suddenly finds himself inside the world of his favorite novel. The story he once read is now real, filled with deadly challenges and mysterious characters.
With knowledge of what happens next, he tries to survive and change the ending.
One of the most important characters in this world is Yoo Joong Hyuk, played by Lee Min Ho. He is the original main character of the novel within the story. Yoo Joong Hyuk is not a hero who saves the day with kindness or charm. He is cold, serious, and always ready to fight. He has a special power that brings him back to the start every time he dies. This means he has lived through the end of the world many times. Every loop has made him stronger—but also more distant and lonely.
Lee Min Ho reportedly transformed for this role. He no longer plays a smooth talker or romantic lead here. Instead, he becomes someone who has been through years of pain and loss. The teaser trailer of this movie has given us a glimpse on his hard work for this role. You can see the weight of every battle in his eyes.
Lee Min Ho also trained hard for the action scenes. There is nothing flashy or fake about the way he fights. It looks real because he made sure it feels real. He said he thought a lot about how it would feel to survive alone for so long. That shows in every scene. Yoo Joong Hyuk doesn’t trust people easily. But when he meets Kim Dok Ja, something starts to change.
This character is one of Lee Min Ho’s most serious and demanding roles so far. It is not about being likeable. It is about showing the pain, strength, and silence of someone who has lost more times than he can count and still keeps going.

Omniscient Reader will be released in July.
Are you excited to see Lee Min Ho like this, tough, tired, and unforgettable ?
