Good Boy Kdrama story is about athletes turned Police Officers

After giving us one of 2025’s best Kdramas, “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” Park Bo-gum is coming back with a new Kdrama Good Boy (2025). To be released on JTBC, this new Kdrama will show Park Bo-gum in a fierce new look, focusing more on fighting crimes. The drama is about athletes who have been recruited as police officers.

The story of Good Boy Kdrama follows Yoon Dong-joo, played by Park Bo-gum, well known for his iconic dramas like Reply 1988, Love in the Moonlight, and Record of Youth. In Good Boy, he plays the role of a former Olympic gold medalist in boxing whose career gets derailed. But rather than giving up on life, Dong-joo chooses a different path for himself. He signs up to become a cop, through a special program that recruits retired athletes.

It sounds unbelievable, but somehow it makes perfect sense when you see him throw that first punch in uniform.

Along with him we have Kim So-hyun, popular for Kdramas like Love Alarm, River Where the Moon Rises, and The Tale of Nokdu. She plays the role of Ji Han-na, a sharp, confident ex-Olympic shooter, who has also become a police officer now. She’s fierce, focused, and has no time for nonsense.

What makes Good Boy stand out is this squad of ex-Olympians-turned-cops. They’re called the “Olympic Avengers”. The other members of this Olympic Avengers Cop Team are:

Lee Sang-yi, known for his role in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Youth of May, will be playing the role of a former fencer. Heo Sung-tae, known for his chilling roles in Squid Game and Beyond Evil, plays the wrestling medalist who leads the team.

Tae Won-seok adds heart and muscle as a discus thrower working to support his family. And then there’s Oh Jung-se, our forever scene-stealer from It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and When the Camellia Blooms—as a customs officer with a suspiciously perfect image.
